About the event
Workshop Description
ON Verbs: Building Meaning Through Direction, Space, and ClassifiersLed by Justin Malone
This workshop explores how ASL verbs function in space to create clear, intentional meaning. Participants will examine noun/verb pairs, IN/ON verbs, and directional verbs—both with and without a third-person referent present. The session will also focus on how classifiers integrate with verbs to represent nouns, actions, and relationships in three-dimensional space.
Through examples and guided practice, participants will deepen their understanding of how verb choice and movement contribute to accurate, natural ASL structure. This workshop is designed for interpreters and advanced ASL users who want to strengthen their expressive clarity and spatial organization.
Key topics include:
Noun/verb pairs and how meaning shifts through movement
